Kevork Vanlyan from “Treyman Brothers” photo studio. After the explanation each of the participants will have a change to make a photo with pinhole box. During the afternoon time, the papers and negatives will be developed manually.

DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW TOWARDS PHOTOGPRAPHY

 

Nikolay Treyman – leading Bulgarian photographer. He is the manager of “Treyman Brothers” photo studio and the leader of the photo club “Paraklis/Chapel”. Made a lot of photo exhibitions among which “The Marsh” and “Orthodox Bulgaria”. He is also organizing a lot of training courses related to different aspects of photography.

 

Prof. Tsocho Boyadzhiev – professor in the Faculty of Philosophy in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” as well as in New Bulgarian University. He is a researcher and translator of a lot of books about theory and aesthetics of photography. Author of the photo exhibition “Faces”.

 

Dr. Katerina Gadzheva – a renowned theoretician in photography, she teaches in New Bulgarian University, National Art Academy and is an author of a lot of articles about photography.

In about 30 minutes there will be short presentations of two interactive multimedia installations which can be seen by Computer Space visitors in the lobby of Czech center. During the rest of the day everyone who is interested may have a look at these and also try them out.

 

 

COMPUTER ANIMATION – THE MAKING-OF PART I

 

This block of presentations is extremely practically-oriented. It comprises presentations of artists, computer animators, directors etc. who will talk about their work on concrete projects. They will highlight both the challenges they had to overcome during their work as well as the concrete steps they have taken up in order to complete successfully their movies. The presentations are not going to be strictly theoretical but rather practical – sharing real-life experience on the making-of computer animation from beginning to end.

The role of the idea and preparing the work on our future 3D movie – Simeon Sokerov, Bulgaria

 

Simeon Sokerov – He has graduated National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts. Now he is a director of computer animation movies and leads the “Computer Animation and Special Effects” department in a leading advertising studio in Bulgaria. His computer animation film “5 times” won first place in “computer animation” category in Computer Space 2009 as well as other animations contests.

Creating “The Guest”, being your own mini Pixar and the importance of killing your deadline – Henrik Malmgren, Denmаrk

 

Henrik Malmgren – author of the 7 minute animated short film “The Guest”. He made the entire film from script to screen. /http://theguestfilm.com/ Studied at “The Animation Workshop” in Denmark and at present is an artist at Goodjobstudios.

The Hungarian Cultural Institute is the site where Computer Space visitors can go and enjoy a quieter but also a more interactive impression from computer arts and contemporary art forms. What we mean by this? There you can go and watch the screening of computer animation movies, try out some of the installations in the lobby or just enjoy and have a look at the antique types of paper (linen paper, cotton paper etc.) and examples of engravings, etchings and lithos. The making of “The Wonder Hospital” – Beomsik (Shimbe) Shim, Shimbe, USA

 

The Wonder Hospital – winner of Best Student Prize at SIGGRAPH 2010, Best Short Animation Seattle Intl. Film Festival, Best Short Animation Los Angeles Film Festival and a lot more.

 

Shimbe - majored in fine art and worked as a media artist having exhibitions and media art shows in Seoul. He moved to U.S in 2003 for his independent film projects. His shorts were shown at over 40 film festivals in various countries winning awards at Seattle International Film Festival, LA Film Festival, Athens FF, SIGGRAPH and so on. He majored in Experimental animation MFA at CalArts in 2009, and has worked on his films, commercial animations and interdisciplinary projects with various artists in Los Angeles area.

Mooves is an animation studio making short cartoons for new and old media since 1999. Mooves has a long experience in character design and animation for a broad range of purposes, including games, web applications and television shows. Mooves also makes illustration for companies such as Coca-Cola China Ltd., Nokia Siemens Networks etc. Mooves also makes narrative artistic animations for big audiences and festivals. /www.mooves.nl/

FONTS – THE MAKING-OF AND TYPES

 

This seminar focuses on the relation between art, design and the making of different fonts as well as their use in design. One of the presentations and the demonstration after it are dedicated to calligraphy as a means for information delivery and visual impressions.

Kossio Kokalanov – a young expert in graphic design working closely with calligraphy and its use in contemporary graphic design. Works for a leading advertising company as well as engages in alternative art forms such as street art.

Construct Synthesis: an intuitive sound synthesis model for electroacoustic compositionPanayiotis Kokoras, Greece

 

Panayiotis Kokoras - founding member and President of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA). His works have been commissioned by institutes and festivals such as FROMM (Harvard University) IRCAM (France), MATA (New York), and regularly performed in over  400 concerts in 70 cities around the world. His compositions have received 40 distinctions and prizes in international competitions among others Prix Ars Electronica 2011 (Austria), Métamorphoses 2010 & 2000 (Belgium), Giga-Hertz Music Award 2009 (Germany) and many more. Panayiotis Kokoras sound compositions develop functional classification and matching sound systems written on what he calls Holophonic Musical Texture. His works include significant influences of the electroacoustic studio upon acoustic instrumental compositions and vice versa. Panayiotis Kokoras??creative output consists of 50 works ranging from acoustic works to mixed media, improvisation and tape.

 

PAPER, GRAPHICS AND PRINT

 

The aim of this seminar slot is to relate the importance of traditional printing styles, techniques etc. with computer arts and design and how design is intimately related with the tradition and classic styles. The presentations included here will tell the audience more about the types of paper and for what purposes each of these types can be used, the types of print and their specifics as well as some traditional and classical forms of print such as different kinds of engravings, lithography etc.

Types of print and contemporary presentation forms in photography – Ivaylo Stoyanov, New Bulgarian University

 

Ivaylo StoyanovIvaylo Stoyanov was born in 1976 in Karlovo, Bulgaria and graduated from the Academy of visual arts at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, major conceptual photography in 2007. From 2009 he is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists and a year later, in 2010, he became conceptual photography lecturer at the New Bulgarian University.

Over the years, Stoyanov presents his work at solo and group exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Montenegro. Some of Stoyanov’s works are in private collections and art salons.

Dr. Rosen Petkov – lecturer in computer graphics and an expert in graphic design. He also explores the development of print media including different methods for quality printing of images - engraving, phototype, autotype, lithography – and the importance of different types of paper.
