Computer Space is a non-commercial international computer art forum.
With every passing year the forum becomes more and more popular. With twenty one editions in a row behind its back and more than 8000 participants (firms, studios or individual persons) from different countries from all over the world, today “Computer Space” is one of the biggest and most significant events for computer arts in south-east Europe.

“Computer Space” seeks to show the modern trends in the field of computer arts. The forum is divided in two parts – competition and festival.

The competition part

The competition part of the forum gathers projects in different categories from all over the world, which struggle against each other for the first places of “Computer Space”.
Everybody can participate in the competition part with a project (one or more), as long as it complies with the Participation Rules. The project should be registered in one of the following categories:

  • Computer graphics
  • Computer animation
  • Offline multimedia
  • Computer and electronic music
  • Web design: art & culture
  • Web design: society & institutions
  • Web design: entertainment & hobby
  • Web design: technology & market
  • Web design: information & media

The projects registration continues for a few months, usually starting in spring and ending in autumn. When the registration is over, the projects are evaluated by an independent jury of experts in the fields of the categories of the competition. The jury determines the winners, and at first it nominates five projects in each category as potential winners. The nominees are announced on the Computer Space site usually one month before the award ceremony. The 1-st, 2-nd and 3-rd place, as well as the winners of special prizes, are announced during the award ceremony.

The festival part

Usually the festival part consists of two events – the awarding ceremony and the forum part (seminars, exhibition, show events, concerts).

During the awarding ceremony all the nominated projects in each category are presented. As already mentioned, the winners in each category, as well as the winners of special awards are announced and awarded. Traditionally, President of Bulgaria, Minister of Education ans Science, Minister of Culture, managers of Microsoft Bulgaria, Apple - Bulgaria (BBS), Adobe - Bulgaria, Information Services and many others participate and bestow prizes on the winners. The ceremony is accompanied by a rich and interesting show program.

The seminars are carried out for several days. The accents are on various topics from different spheres of the computer art and technology. The participants in these seminars are from all over the world, and the lectors and their topics are carefully selected by the organizers of “Computer Space”.
